Children’s day in India surrounds the celebration
of childhood. The day is celebrated on 14th November
across the nation to commemorate the birth anniversary
of India’s first Prime minister, Pandit Jawarlal
Nehru.
Our school celebrated children’s day on 14th
Nov 2011 with lot of fun filled events. The day was
started with the school assembly conducted by the
teachers. The school coordinator Mrs.Chaitali Roy
gave the opening speech about Nehru ji and mentioned
the relevance of the day. And thereafter, the assembly
was concluded with a group song which depicted the
feeling of the teachers towards children. Sweets were
distributed by the concerned teachers to their respective
class students. The events started at 10.00 am with
games and various food stalls. Students enjoyed a
lot in the fate. And they were very excited to play
the games. Later on, they were assembled in the basement
where the teachers of both AGK and AWS joined together
and conducted different cultural activities. The students
enjoyed each moment of the celebration. The teachers
of AWS showed a Power point presentation on “why
a child should be responsible”, which was very
inspiring and informative. The students from grade
V to grade VIII did plantation along with their Principal
and the teachers. The complement gifts were distributed
to them. Thereafter, the cake cutting ceremony was
done by the head boy and head girl of the school.
Students had their lunch at 12.50pm. Again the program
was continued till 2.30pm.The students were asked
to come in front individually to show their talents.
At 2.30 pm, there was an essay writing competition,
organized by Bank of Maharashtra. The students of
grade V to VIII participated in the competition with
great enthusiasm. The topics were: global warming,
My Grandparents, Child labour.The first prize was
the cash award of Rs 1000 and second prize was Rs.250
which was given to two students.
The results were announced on the day itself by the
coordinator Mrs. Roy. The prizes were given to the
following students.

Overall the program was well organized and successful.
