REPORT ON CAMBRIDGE PRIMARY SCIENCE TRAINING SESSION
Science teacher along with academic coordinator attended the two days i.e. 7th October 2011 and 8th October 2011 CIE training session of science at OPG world school at Dwarka.
The session was very interactive and the key changes in Cambridge International Examinations was introduced.
- Each school year will be referred to as a stage because the ages at which students start their Primary and Secondary education varies around the world.
- What was previously referred to as statements in the existing curriculum framework will be known as Learning Objectives in the revised version.
- Some strands have undergone a rearrangement of content in order to create a better balance across the curriculum.
- The revision has resulted in a more investigative approach by the students to investigate how the size of a shadow is affected by the position of the object rather than knowing that size of a shadow is affected by the position of the object.
- Active learning :- Learning by doing attaches meaning to whatever is being taught.
- I listen – I forget
- I see- I believe
- I do – I understand.
- The progression test will be held at the end of each stage.
- The Cambridge Primary curriculum framework will support the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint tests at the end of stage 6 which replace the Cambridge Primary Achievement tests from 2012 onwards.
- Syllabus codes have been given such as 3Bh means 3 stage, Biology, human.
- Science is all around in nature and need to be introduced first class onwards in their Ev S curriculum as find out two living things and two non living things in the park, Shadow, force, leaves, change of ice into water .
- Assessment should be both Formative and summative assessment.
- Results are delivered in three bands Gold, Silver and Bronze at the place of Band I, II and III.
