Cambridge IGCSE

The self assurance and easy manner that many expat teenagers quickly develop is an asset that serves them well in many situations they will come across in the years to come. A key question for many families relocating overseas with teenagers at crucial points in their secondary education is whether there will be a price to pay through the educational qualification their children gain. Can students deal with the upheaval that moving countries and schools inevitably causes and still succeed in the formal academic sphere? Can we all have our cake and eat it? As international educators, this is a crucial question for us. The answer is unequivocally yes, and perhaps the best way to incarcerate is with the International General Certificate of Secondary Education.

Cambridge IGCSE is typically for learners aged 14 to 16 years. It is built on the foundations of Cambridge Lower Secondary, although it is not essential to have completed that stage before beginning Cambridge IGCSE.

Cambridge IGCSE includes Cambridge IGCSE – the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 years which has been designed especially for an international achiever. It provides excellent preparation for Cambridge Advanced and for progression to other educational systems. Syllabus support us by using learner-centered and enquiry-based approach to learning. It describes the knowledge, understanding and skills learners will develop and explain how these are to be assessed.

Our Curriculum

With 70 subjects and more than30 languages available in any combination, the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum offers a variety of routes for learners with a wide range of abilities, including those whose first language is not English. It develops learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills in:

The syllabuses are international in outlook, but retain a local relevance. They have been created specifically for an international student body with content to suit a wide variety of schools and avoid cultural bias.

Cambridge IGCSE English

Syllabi are available for learners whose first language is English and for those with good English skills, but who are not native speakers. The syllabi develop the ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively in both speech and writing, for study and employment.

Assessment

Assessment takes place at the end of the course and gives you options to suit the learners, including written, oral, coursework and practical assessment. This broadens opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning, particularly when their first language is not English.

With a tiered structure in many subjects for different ability levels, learners of all abilities are assessed positively and bright individuals have the chance to excel. The grades awarded at Cambridge IGCSE are A*–G, with A* being the highest. IGCSE help students to develop thinking and analytical skills which will go a long way to assist them in advance studies.

Cambridge Advanced

Cambridge Advanced is provided to learners aged 16 to 19 years who need support for advanced study to prepare for university and higher education. It is built on the strong foundations of the Cambridge Secondary 2 stage, although it is not mandatory for learners to have completed that stage.
